In October 2010 we were planning a short tour with Greyline. This plan backfired because we ended up with a schedule full of gaps and the shows that we had left would have cost us money. Logically Greyline pulled out, and we cancelled the tour except for one show. We played in Tours twice before and knew that this would be too cool to cancel. So, we said fuck it, took Walter and Onno's other band Lennard along for the ride and drove 600 km for a single show in a small French bar. The day after The Apers were playing at the exact same spot so that was a nice little bonus. We left early in the morning and first got stuck in traffic around Paris and then got stuck in a demonstration in the Tours city centre. It was nice to see our amis again at around 4 in the afternoon. On our French tour in 2009 we picked up a zebra at the first show in Paris and left it behind at the last show, in Tours. For some reason Yohan held on to it and so we met the thing again. We think Yohan had sex with it because it was not looking all that good. When we arrived at the venue (the Canadian Cafe) we found out there were 3 bands, the show was starting at 20:00 and curfew was at 22:00. Quite the challenge. Luckily Lennard set up shop pretty quick and were ready to rocque on time. Too bad the local support also wanted to soundcheck, in spite of the fact that they were the ham in the sandwich and Lennard was playing over our gear. Oh well, it al turned out okay and Lennard played one of the best shows I've seen 'em do, ever. After that The Ass Shakers played all of their hits for about 45 minutes and the singer took his pants off. Pretty sick. After they were finished we had half an hour left so we played everything back to back, twice as fast and skipped the Mastodon cover. Not bad, an 8 hour drive for a 25 minute set, woohoo! Just how we like it. After all this it was time to hit the bar and the afterparty and it was all downhill from there. Let's just say the rest of the night was one for the books. In 4 words: alcohol, fight, stijve. All in all an awesome 24 hours. Merci beaucoup Yohan, Céline, Audrey and the rest, and see you in Holland at new year's eve!
